37th Annual Great Olympic Peninsula Duck Derby Returns to Port Angeles City Pier on May 17

The Olympic Medical Center (OMC) Foundation is proud to announce the return of the 37th Annual Great Olympic Peninsula Duck Derby, set to take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Port Angeles City Pier Stage (315 N. Lincoln St.). Presented by the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, this community-favorite fundraiser continues its tradition of supporting vital healthcare services on the North Olympic Peninsula.

The festivities kick off with the Very Important Duck (VID) Race at 1:15 PM, followed immediately by the Main Duck Race at 1:30 PM. Thousands of rubber ducks will be "plucked" from Wilder Auto trucks, with the first-place finisher in the main race taking home a brand-new 2026 Toyota Corolla, generously donated by Wilder Toyota.

Impact on Local Healthcare
As the most successful per-capita duck race in the country, the Duck Derby has raised over $3.9 million during its 36-year history. Proceeds from the event provide life-saving equipment and support for various departments at Olympic Medical Center, including:

  • OMC Cancer Center

  • Cardiac Services Department

  • OMC Healthcare Scholarship Fund, which helps grow the local medical workforce

How to Participate
Ducks will officially go on sale starting April 17th. Community members can "adopt" ducks through several convenient packages:

Single Duck: $7

Quack Pack: $35 (Buy 5, get the 6th duck free)

VID Package: For $350, participants receive one large VID duck for the cash-prize VID race, 60 ducks in the main race, and two invitations to the exclusive Bub & Alice Olsen VID Party hosted at 48 Degrees North/Red Lion.

Expanded VID Package: $700 includes two VID ducks, 120 main race ducks, and four party invitations.

Tickets can be purchased at Swain’s General Store, Safeway (Port Angeles and Sequim locations), First Fed branches, Wilder Toyota, and Sound Community Bank.

Join the Race
"The Duck Derby is more than just a race; it's a testament to the generosity of our community," says Duck Derby co-chair Rick Smith. "Every duck adopted helps ensure that the very best healthcare remains available right here on the peninsula".
