The Red, Set, Go! Heart Luncheon is held each February – this year will be the 14th annual – on February 26th, 2021.

The luncheon is two-fold – it raises awareness about the critical issue of heart health for women on the Olympic Peninsula, and is the primary fundraising event for the OMC Heart Center.

The educational lunch promotes that the key to eradicating heart disease is education. “The purpose of our event is to inspire women to become more educated to improve their heart health, “ said OMC Heart Center Director Dr. Kara Urnes.

The Red, Set, Go Luncheon has always been about saving lives.

Not only is the event educational,  providing valuable education on how to prevent heart disease, it has raised money to purchase life-saving equipment.

“One of the great thing about sponsoring this event is that it is a great opportunity for companies and organizations to send their female employees to the event, since the theme of the event is women’s health,” said Red, Set, Go Chair Karen Rogers.

Funds from the 2021 event will go towards purchasing several EKG’s for Olympic Medical Center. EKG’s gives two major kinds of information. First, by measuring time intervals on the ECG, a doctor can determine how long the electrical wave takes to pass through the heart.  That helps show if electrical activity is normal or slow, fast or irregular. Secondly, by measuring this activity, a cardiologist may be able to find out if parts of the heart are too large or are overworked.
